1 Cover the card front with pastel blue cardstock, leaving a narrow border all around.

2 Cut out the topper elements. Use a craft knife to cut along the solid lines on the circle and back square toppers and pierce a hole through the centre of the marked pieces.

3 Fix double-sided tape to the shaded area only on the circle and stick the ‘Turn me’ tab in place with the top edge of the tab at the top of the shaded area, taking care to line up the images and making sure you haven’t stuck the cut opening shut.

4 Push a brad through the pierced holes of the circle, the back square and the ‘back tab’ again making sure to line up the image before securing the brad onto the reverse.

5 Slide the un-tabbed end of the circle through the slit in the back square and line up the images of the circle and the square on the front. Using double-sided tape on the reverse, slide the ‘back tab’ round until it is lined up over the edge showing through from the front and glue in place, making sure not to stick the slit closed.

6 Add a 3D foam pad to each corner of the finished slider making sure the ‘back tab’ isn’t obstructed and mount onto the card blank to finish.

To create…

1 Cut a piece of navy cardstock to measure 29×14.5cm and fold in half to create a 14.5cm-square card blank. Lay the card on the table with the crease across the top, and on the left-hand side measure and mark 4cm up from bottom and 4cm in along the crease line. Repeat on the right-hand side.

2 Use the edge of a plate or saucer to draw a curve between the two bottom marks, and draw a line diagonally from the edge of the curve to the 4cm mark on both the left- and right-hand sides. Cut out the rocker shape.

3 Using the card base as a template, draw around it onto backing paper, but cut it out slightly smaller so that when attached to the card you have a small gap all the way around. Affix a piece of argyle backing paper to the card front.

4 Print two copies of your image and colour, using an editing software such as PhotoShop as I did here, or with marker pens, and fix one directly onto the front of the card. After glittering as desired, stick the second image directly on top using 3D foam pads. Cut out, glitter, and attach a sentiment panel as shown using 3D foam pads.

5 Die-cut some snowflakes, cover with glitter and punch a small hole in the centre of the top flake. Thread a small piece of ribbon through a button and the hole in the snowflake as shown.

6 Fix the top flake to the bottom flake using a 3D foam pad, then attach to the centre-top of the card, again using 3D foam pads.

Snowflake flight sliding box card

Materials…

Teddy Bo & Co paper pad and Snowflake Flight digi stamp

Pink and blue cardstock

Acetate

Martha Stewart Deep Double Edge Snowflake punch

Nestabilities scalloped circle die.

Blue Debbi Moore glitter

Glamour Dust and Sakura Quickie glue pen

Computer-generated sentiment

To create…

1 Cut a rectangle of blue cardstock to measure 10.5x12cm, score and fold along the 12cm length at 5.5 and 11cm. Attach tape to the 1cm section, fold in and stick to make a sleeve.

2 Cut two 5cm-wide strips of pink A4 cardstock, then score and fold both strips at 1cm, 10cm and 19cm. Insert the longer section of each into the sleeve, one from the left-hand side, the other from the right. Apply tape to 1cm sections and stick into place to form a box shape. When pressed flat the sleeve should move freely.

3 Cut a 17.5x19cm rectangle of blue cardstock, measure halfway across the 17.5cm length, score, fold and crease well. Keep folded and use a plate or round template to mark a curved line from the centre to the side, then cut through both layers to give an arched top. Punch strips of snowflakes in silver and white glitter card, then cut between flakes to make singles. Glue randomly to the arched section.

4 Cut four pieces of 4.5×8.5cm backing paper and attach one to each section of the box. Stick a silver punched snowflake border across the two front sections of the box, allowing for the crease in the middle. Print out your sentiment twice, die-cut one and glitter around the edge. Cut around the wording on the second image, glitter and stick to sentiment panel using 3D foam pads. Affix to the box.

5 Attach tape to the back of the arched section, no higher than 5cm from the bottom. Slide into the back of the box, line up the bottom edges and press into place.

6 Print and colour the image, stick to a piece of firm cardstock to strengthen and cut out. Glitter as desired. Use wet glue to attach the bottom of the image onto the front of the sleeve, then decorate the sleeve with more snowflakes.

7 Cut three narrow strips of acetate, attach snowflakes to each and arrange and stick into place so that they dangle over the arched section.

8 Cover the back of the arched section with backing paper to cover the acetate, and add a message panel to finish.

1 Load a piece of orange cardstock and cut another 9” pumpkin, base shape as before. Glue to the back of the front cover. Load a piece of green cardstock and cut another 9” pumpkin. Trim off the leaves and stalk, and glue to the top of the orange pumpkin.

2 Load a small piece of black cardstock. Select the haunted house shape on the cartridge and select the ‘Pieces’ option. Select the base house shape at 2.5” and cut. Load a small piece of purple cardstock, select the roof and stairs of the house and cut. Glue these layers onto the house and attach the house to the pumpkin as shown. Whilst the purple cardstock is loaded, select the bat shape at 2” and cut twice. Save these to one side for later.

3 Load a piece of black cardstock and cut a pumpkin at 9” and a hat at 4”. Cut a 9” pumpkin from orange cardstock. Glue the black pumpkin onto the orange pumpkin, then glue the black hat onto the black pumpkin. At this point you will need to change your cartridge to Halloween and Scaredy Cat™Alphabet.

4 Load a piece of green cardstock. Select the alphabet function, use the keypad to type the phrase ‘Halloween Bash’ at 1” and cut. Load a piece of white cardstock. With the same phrase still typed in, select the ‘Shadow’ option and cut. Glue the green letters onto the white shadow letters and glue onto the black pumpkin as shown. Glue the two purple bats down.

5 Swap your cartridge to the Giddy Me™ & Moon Doggy™ Alphabet cartridge. On the white card, select the Giddy Me™ alphabet at 1”, type the words ‘Your invited to a’, ‘8pm’ and ‘At my’ and cut. Colour the edges with green ink and glue to the invitation as shown.

6 Trim a rectangle of black cardstock to measure 7x3cm, fold in half and punch two holes along the fold line. Glue the strip across the inside pages of the invite to attach them. Tie pieces of black and purple ribbon through the two holes and tie into a bow.

Bag it up for the beach…

Make sure your beach bag is as gorgeous as you are this Summer. A simple straw basket with plain leather straps suddenly becomes a thing of beauty when you add some material, a bow and some pyrography. Big enough to carry your beachside essentials: sun cream, purse, sunglasses, towel, cover-up, smart phone, iPod and book, but light enough not to weigh you down. Simply follow our step-by-step guide. All you need is your Dremel Glue Gun and Dremel Versatip – and off you go!

Materials required:

Dremel Versatip with Shaping Knife 203

Dremel Glue Gun 930 and 7mm clear glue sticks

Bag with leather handles

1.6m of 150cm wide lightweight cotton fabric

Scissors

Dressmaker’s pins

Fabric marking pen

Ruler

Iron and ironing board

Difficulty rating:

Four stars – fairly difficult

Step One

Making patterns on the leather handles

Fit the Shaping Knife 203 into your Dremel Versatip and set it to medium heat. Use the tool to burn patterns onto the leather handles of the straw bag.

Step Two

Making the bow and fabric band around the bag

Following the grain line, trim the cut edge of your lightweight cotton fabric straight using scissors. Fold the cut edge across the piece to align it with the selvedge, making a triangle shape. Use the iron to press along the fold made to establish the bias, i.e. a line running across the fabric at 45° to the selvedge. Measure and mark a line 12cm away from the bias edge. Take your scissors and cut along the line to create a 12cm wide bias strip. Repeat the measuring and marking process to make a second 12cm wide bias strip. Cutting the strips for the bow on the bias will allow the band to sit flat around a tapered bag.

Step Three

Place one of the strips right side down. Lay the second on top of it right side up, matching the longest edge to the shortest edge. To make the profiles at the ends of the strips match, cut the lower strip following the angle at the selvedge of the upper strip. Repeat at the opposite end. Use the iron to press in a 1cm turning around each strip. Cut the shorter strip in half.

Step Four

Mark a light pencil line around the circumference of the bag where the top of the band will sit. Measure around the circumference of the bag at this point. Fold the longest bias strip in half. Measuring from the fold, mark a point that is half the circumference of the bag, on both layers. Unfold the strip, then lay the sections of the shorter strip on top of it, matching the ends. Transfer the marks made on the longest strip to the short sections. Place the two short sections together, matching the ends, and measure a point towards the straight cut edges that is 15cm from the marks made. Cut through both layers at the last marks made to make shorter strips with profiled ends that will match those of the longer strip.

Step Five

Place the full length strip wrong side up on the work surface. Lay the short sections on top, one at each end of the full length strip, right side up and matching the profiles at each end. Use the Dremel Glue Gun 930 and 7mm clear glue stick to glue the short sections of strip to the long band, wrong sides facing.

Step Six

Position the centre of the full length band to the rear centre of the bag. Stretching the fabric slightly as you go, use pins to hold the band around the bag, positioning the upper edge of the band to slightly overlap the pencil line. Pin each end of the band to within approximately 3cm of the centre front of the bag. Pin the lower edge of the band ensuring it sits flat against the bag. Tie the ends of the band in a bow. Glue small sections of the upper and lower edges of the band at a time to glue the band to the bag, removing the pins as you go. Arrange the bow, securing it with dabs of glue if necessary.

Step Seven

Lining the bag

Place the remaining fabric inside the bag, ensuring it extends slightly above the upper edge all the way around. To avoid the finished lining pulling when items are placed inside the bag, check that the fabric lays flat in the base. Cut roughly around the fabric extending above the edge of the bag leaving some extra fabric to allow for any repositioning. Hold the fabric around the top of the bag with pins, arranging the fullness into a series of roughly equal pleats, all facing in the same direction. When happy with the arrangement, keep the pleats formed by using your Dremel Glue Gun to glue the front and back of each one. Trim the top of the lining to just above the top edge of the bag. Carefully fold the raw edge over and pin it so that it sits approximately 1cm below the inner rim of the bag.

Step Eight

Unpin a small section of the pleated fabric at a time and apply a thin line of glue close to the edge of the fabric. Press the glued fabric to the bag, repeating the process all around the edge to secure the lining.

Cut Out

To create…

1 Cut the required length of 0.7mm clear nylon elastic to fit your wrist size – I have used approximately 18cm as the wrist measurement and added 10cm to allow for finishing.

2 Keeping around 5cm of the elastic in one hand to avoid the beads falling off, thread on your selection of beads and bead caps. Between each of the bead caps, add a looped spacer, from which to attach the charms.

3 Once you have threaded all the beads onto the elastic, grip the two loose ends and tie in a double knot. Without loosening it, apply a small amount of glue to the knot and allow to dry.

4 Once set, you will have formed the bracelet base. Put to one side and begin to construct the individual charms. Select the beads, bead caps and stoppers for each charm, thread through a headpin and turn a double loop to the base of the bead.

5 Attach each of the charms to the looped spacers using the oval jump rings by simply opening the jump ring, threading through the loop of the charm and spacer and closing.

1 Lay the cardstock face down onto the bottom layer of an embossing folder and emboss using a stylus. Repeat randomly on a couple of other areas, turn the cardstock over and sand the embossed areas and edges of the cardstock.

2 Cut one large corner from a sheet of patterned paper and adhere to the right-hand side of your layout.

3 Matt your photograph onto corrugated cardstock, fold a short length of ribbon and tuck it underneath one corner. Affix to the right-hand side of the page.

4 Cut a strip of corrugated cardstock and some scrap white paper to the same width as the page.
Punch a lace pattern along the white strip and attach beneath the lower edge of the corrugated cardstock. Adhere both to the page underneath the photograph.

5 Stitch around the edges of the layout using white thread and add two strips of knotted ribbon in the top-right corner.

6 Colour a chipboard frame using an inkpad and attach a journaling spot behind it. Fix foam pads to the back and tie a piece of raffia in one end of the corrugated cardstock along with the chipboard border piece.

7 Matt the letters onto patterned paper, trim and attach to the corrugated strip using foam pads. Add brads, buttons and a photo corner.

To create…

1 Make a wire spiral bead 3cm long using the Coiling Gizmo and 0.4mm silver-plated wire.

2 Create the wire bead rosette by making a spiral on the Coiling Gizmo, then stretching it out so it is loose use chain-nosed pliers to coil the spiral wire freehand around the nose of the pliers, back and forth until you have formed a rosette. Make a loop in the end of the wire and tuck it into the bead.

3 Cut a 20cm length of 0.4mm wire and thread the wire spiral bead onto this. Twist to create a loop.

4 Thread the agate flower onto the wire, then take one end and add a glass bead from the Bead Soup mix before bending the wire back on itself and twisting.

5 Take the wire over the front of the agate flower, threading on the wire bead rosette as you go.

6 Finally, add more glass beads from the Bead Soup onto the wire and twist into a cluster at the top of the flower. Tuck the ends of the wire inside this cluster and snip off any excess. Thread the finished earring onto an ear wire.

7 Repeat for the other earring.
