The term ‘Acid Free’ refers to paper and other items that do not contain acids. Acids can damage paper over a period of time, causing it to discolour, become inflexible, and eventually turn brittle. Acid can also destroy photographs if it comes in contact with them. This is why it is so important to buy acid free materials for your crafting, especially projects you wish to preserve like scrapbooks and other types of memory albums. To be considered Acid Free, an object must have a pH level of 7 or above.
