It’s super easy to make your loved one a card this Valentine’s Day, so don’t waste money buying one! It’s more personal, plus you’ll have loads of fun!

Materials…

  • CraftArtist Compact (download link given below)
  • Cardstock/heavyweight paper

To create…

1. Download CraftArtist Compact here. You’ll get two free kits with your download – Little Birds and Little Monsters. We’re going to use Little Birds to make this card.

2. Open up CraftArtist Compact and click ‘Blank Project’. We’re going to design a 5×5” card. Just select this template and click OK.

3.       The Digikit browser will open up. Click on the ‘Little Birds’ kit and then ‘Add digikit’ in the bottom right corner. Click ‘Done’.

4.       Drag the cream background onto the page and let go. Now add two branch embellishments and with them selected, adjust the transparency to around a quarter using the transparency slider on the Colour tab.

5.       Next, drag the purple material onto the page. Select the ‘Shapes’ tool on the top toolbar and with the Shift key held down, draw a heart shape slightly smaller than your material.

6.       Select the material and heart, and click on the ‘Intersect’ button which you’ll find in the bottom right corner of your screen on the ‘Arrange’ tab.

7.       Now add buttons to your heart, positioning them on the edge as shown. Copy and paste to cover the whole edge of your heart.

8.       Hold down Shift and select every second button around your heart. Colour them purple with a swatch from the Colour tab. Repeat for the other buttons with a slightly lighter colour.

9.       Add a bird to your design by dragging from the left.

10.   Finish off your design with some text for your loved one. Choose the Text tool from the toolbar, click once on your page and type. Click on the Select tool, then change the font, size and colour if necessary.

11.   All that’s left to do now is print!
