Materials…
- White cardstock
- Old children’s book
- Cream acrylic paint
- Sepia Ranger Archival inkpad
- Vintage doily
- Pearls
- Self-covering button
- Men’s tie
- Small button
- Flattened bottle cap
- Needle and thread
- Old sewing pattern
- Vintage buttons
- ‘Dream for tomorrow’ sentiment stamp
To create…
1 Fold a 23.5x16cm sheet of white cardstock to create a side-fold card blank.
2 Take a page from an old children’s book and paint lightly with a layer of cream acrylic paint so that some words are still visible. Set aside to dry, then ink the edges to give an aged look using a Sepia Ranger Archival inkpad.
3 Attach a vintage doily to the top of the page, and sew some pearls into place using a needle and thread.
4 Cover a self-covering button using a piece of fabric from the men’s tie. Glue a small button to the centre as shown, then secure on top of a flattened bottle cap and allow to dry.
5 Trim a strip of fabric from the men’s tie, long enough for the width of the card plus a little extra. Using a needle and thread, stitch along the top of the fabric and then draw in slightly to create a gather.
6Add a strip of double-sided tape down the width of the card. Tear a strip from an old sewing pattern and gather slightly but scrunching the paper. Add to the strip of double-sided tape.
7 Sew the gathered tie fabric directly on top of the sewing pattern strip. Sew two vintage buttons on top of the gathered tie, and glue the bottle cap as shown.
8Stamp your ‘dream for tomorrow’ sentiment stamp onto a scrap piece of the old sewing pattern using Sepia Ranger Archival ink. Attach to card using small stitches. Adhere the completed panel to the card front.
