I'm also a knitter. Havn't done any for a long time though. Apart from a large number of different sized needles I also own 2 knitting machines. The grandchildren don't wear knitted garments which is a big shame. There was never enough time to do anything but knit when my daughter and son were growing up!!

It does seem that a lot of crafters try their hand at several different crafts. I also cross stitch. Have tried but never mastered crocheting and tatting and have dabbled with lace making.

I also have knitting machines, but only use the electronic one now with the garter carriage as arthritis stops me from bending over the knitting bed, as you say Shusky, us crafters try our hand at most things, I am keeping my fingers crossed that the family have taken the hint for Christmas, that I would love some lace making bobbins, as it is one craft I haven't yet tried.

I have a knitting machine and garter carriage but I haven't used it for about 11 years, it is sat here taking up room, but I am loathed to part with it. I have carpal tunnel type problems so I would have to use the garter carriage, I should use it or lose it really.

Love your gloves Bren, they are so delicate.

Thanks Cazzy.

I to have an electronic knitting machine and garter carriage, but don't use it as much as I ought to now, I can't bend over it like I used to because of the arthritis in the top of my spine, so I hand knit a lot now.

But my passion at the mo is machine embroidery. I have two embroidery machines both are brother as are my knitting machines.

I have always yearned after an embroidery machine but they are so big and I am not sure I would get good use from it. You are right the young ones don't wan't to wear knitted items unless they buy them. I cannot hand knit it has hurt my hands for years but I used to crochet everything instead.

Don't do it know, just don't seem to have the time. My garter carraige knits on its own, does yours? I keep thinking I should set it off and knit something, but I can't even get to the machine as there is too much stuff on the floor in front of it and tons of stuff on top of it, should get rid and put in shelfs for my stash.

Cazzy I used to have a small embroidery machine (by Brother) don't know if they still do the small ones but it was lightweight so I could carry it to workshops. It was then only £300 have a look around they may still do them.

Yes my garter carriage goes on it's own, so I set it off then just do squares or oblongs then cut and sew on the overlocker, hey presto no bending over the machine for hours.

Wish I could crochet properly, I can do squares in triples, but back and forth I get confused, you are so lucky to be able to do it, and it doesn't cripple the fingers so much as knitting.

That is what I need, an overlocker, then I wouldn't need to do any shaping!

Hi

I'm another knitter here.  Well I say knitter my mum taught me to knit when I was younger and then I'd not done it for quite a few years and decided to have a go a few years ago.  I'm in the process of knitting a jumper for my husband at the moment.  Don't have a knitting machine or anything just little old me.

You will have to show us the results when you are done.

I have an electronic machine with all the gadgets but much prefer to just sirt and hand knit, how silly is that.
