Has anyone out there been to this event in the past and if so what did you think?  I keep looking at the ads and would love to go to a decent craft show but was very disappointed with an event in Edinburgh a couple of years ago and don't want to spend time and money trekking off to Glasgow to be disappointed again.

Any info would be helpful.

Sue… I have been to the one in Birmingham several times and they are very good…obviously get very busy, but just stick 'yer arms out girl and you will be fine!

There are a lot of stands and it does get VERY tiring, but there are lots of demos to watch.  Havent been to Birmingham for a couple of shows, having just been to AP dont think I will get to another show this year.

Never been to the larger shows I always go to Shepton Mallet and Westpoint and find they are big enough for me around a hundred stalls not many more than that. I have tried the Sincerely Yours Shows but wouldn't bother going again.

But saying that there doesn't seem to be the bargains out there anymore at these shows, you can get just as good deals on the web without the travel and entry costs.

Best look up and see what stalls are going to be there Sue then you can see if any interest you.

Not much help am I Undecided.

very true Bren… I was surprised at the lack of stands at AP… thought with it being London there would be oodles of stands… think there was 63, got fed up after awhile going around on my own!  Plus I kept getting lost!!  Shouldnt be allowed out on my own.

Sue

I have been to the Hobbycraft show at Birmingham which is Nov a few times. That one is also conbined with the Art Show and as I love drawing and painting I kind of get a double whammy! I've been with my Mum and Sis and we have all LOVED going – in fact it was going to this that got my sister hooked on crafting, as she had come to look round the art show. She said she was amazed and what you could create, bought a few bits and the rest is history!!!

If you do go, then get there for when it opens as a day isn't long enough to see everything. I didn't go last year and can't fit it in this year either which is a shame. There were some bargains but quite often you need to look for them, but what we enjoyed was the demonstrations – but your head is buzzing when you leave, some people took notes which is quite a good idea. I would think that as Hobbycraft are running this show as well, then it would be on the same lines. Check the website for the shops which are attending.

Hi All

Thanks for the help and advise.  I've looked at the stands and there seems to be quite a lot so I'll think about it.

Right… you will need…

comfy shoes
plenty of money
elbow pads (to protect them in the crowds)
a little picnic
take your own drink
and probably a suit of armour just in case!!

Fantastic Karen.  You're obviously a veteran of such events.  List duly noted.
