I apologise in advance… but I have had another idea!

I was thinking tonight about the amount of birthday cards I make over the year and how near enough all the cards I get on my birthday are shop bought ones.. It then got me thinking that us card makers very rarely get cards like the ones we give to people on their birthdays and it seems quite unfair..

So I was thinking that we could start a birthday club.  I dont mind running it and if someone else wants to help then I dont mind that either!!

I dont know exactly how it would work as yet but I wanted to test the water and see if I had any takers.

Obviously if you want to become a member then you will be sharing your address with the rest of us in the club so you have to be comfortable with that… but it will mean that you will be receiving lovely handmade birthday cards! You will also have to send cards to everyone else in the club and not just want to be in the club to get cards for your own birthday. I dont know whether we should all write a list of what we like and dont like and then the others in the club know the sort of things we like and it gives them the heads up for making our cards or whether it should be left to the cardmaker's decision… but we can iron all these details out if we get any takers for the club.

If you think this idea is crazy please let me know lol but if you want to be a part of this then leave a comment here and I will get in touch with you…. If you have ideas of how to run this club then also let me know…

Its good to know that there are things like this already up and running.. would you be interested in another one or is it too much?

I hope I do get some responses on here as I think it is a nice thought and means we can all get handmade cards on our birthdays!

Anyone wishing to sign up can put their name down here but please DO NOT post personal details on this page such as your full name, address or DOB.  I should have put that in my original post but totally forgot to thanks Bren for reminding me. I will contact you by private message and no one's details will appear on this page… if we get some takers then I will of course either email everyone or pm them to let them know the birthdays coming up and the address of the person.

Brilliant…. there is 4 of us now!!  Hopefully we can get more…

We will wait a couple of days and see if we get anymore if not its just us… We can decide once we have started if we are going to allow more members in..

Oh i was thinking when it is someone's birthday they should give a rough idea of what they like so we have some idea of what to go on with their cards….

If you have any other ideas then let me know.

I will draw up a sheet with our names, birthdays, addresses and what they like which I will  keep and when it is time for that person's birthday I will send the other members in the club an email/private message with the appropriate details.

Belated Happy Birthday for last month Trudie, it will soon come round again. Mines not till January so I too have to wait till next year.

Hey everyone,

I have got another taker. Her name is Elaine and she is lovely. She has only recently started cardmaking and was a bit nervous as she feels she still has a lot to learn. Have told we are all always learning! The cards she is making at present are lovely and you wouldnt think she was a beginner!

She is on holiday from 6th June – 20th June..

Thats another thing, can people let me know when they are on holiday if it coincides with a member's birthday then they can maybe send me the card early before they go and then i can pass it along.. means that people dont have to wait for their birthday cards.

Is there a way we could work together and combine the two Bren?! I like the idea of your club as well….

We could have the birthday club and also, for whoever is interested, we could have a monthly swap for the months there are no birthdays… i feel bad now!

I think I will make a wee Welcome or Hello card for people and that way the ones who have already had their birthdays this year arent waiting for ages.. not everyone has to do this though! Wouldnt dream of making people do things!

Hey everyone,

We now have 5 members, including myself, and are now up and running. I have private messaged everyone and am waiting on a couple of people's details and then thats me.

We want to keep the group relatively small so dont want to go above 10 members as I know some of us have other projects on the go and can't commit to anything more so i think 10 is a nice round number and its not too many members.
